Using the productivity bar
The productivity bar is the vertical strip on the right side of your screen. It gives you quick access to creation tools, timers, AI, notifications, your calendar, notes, search, pinned conversations, and your account, all without leaving the page you're on.
What's in the productivity bar
From top to bottom, the productivity bar contains:
Quick actions (top section)
- Global create (+) - opens a menu to create a new task, project, invoice, proposal, contract, event, contact, or any other item. Keyboard shortcut:
C. - Timer - start, stop, or switch between active timers. Keyboard shortcut:
T. - Plutio Pal - open the AI assistant in a side panel. Keyboard shortcut:

These three actions are not visible to client roles.
Tray items
- Notifications - opens your notification feed in a side panel. Shows a badge count when you have unread notifications.
- Calendar - opens a mini calendar view showing today's events and upcoming schedule.
- Notes - opens your personal notes in a side panel. You can create, browse, and edit notes without leaving your current page.
- Spotlight search - opens spotlight search. You can also use the keyboard shortcut
Cmd/Ctrl + K.
Notes and spotlight search are not visible to client roles.
Pinned conversations
Below the tray items, any conversations you've pinned from the Inbox appear here. Click one to open it in a side panel and continue the conversation without navigating away.
Bottom section
- Theme toggle - switch between light and dark mode.
- Templates - quick access to the templates page.
- Support - open in-app support to contact the Plutio team.
- Settings - go to your workspace settings.
- Account - opens your account menu with links to your profile, account settings, availability status, notification preferences, and sign out.
Side panels
When you click any tray item (notifications, calendar, notes, spotlight, Pal, or a pinned conversation), it opens in a side panel that slides in from the right. You can interact with the panel while your main page stays in place. Click the same button again or press Esc to close it.
