Switching between workspaces
One Plutio login can belong to many workspaces. For example, you might own your own workspace and also be a team member or client in someone else's. You can move between them without signing out, and you can create new workspaces of your own at any time.
How to switch workspaces
On desktop:
- Click the workspace button at the very top of the main menu. It shows your current workspace logo and name.
- A dropdown opens with every other workspace your account belongs to.
- Click the one you want. You land in it immediately.
On mobile:
- Tap your account avatar in the menu.
- Your other workspaces appear at the top of the account menu.
- Tap the one you want.
Each workspace has its own projects, contacts, invoices, settings, and data. Nothing is shared between them.
Getting into another workspace
There are two ways your account ends up with access to more than one workspace:
- Someone invites you. When a workspace owner adds you as a team member or client, you get an email with a link. Click it to accept. The workspace appears in your switcher from that point on.
- You create your own. From inside any workspace, open the switcher and click + Create workspace. You become the Owner of the new workspace, and it joins the rest in your switcher. See Creating your workspace for the full setup flow.
Who can create a workspace from the switcher
The + Create workspace option in the switcher is available to Owners, Co-owners, and roles with the create workspace permission. The default Team role can see it when that permission is enabled. Clients do not see it in the switcher.
On a white-labeled workspace (accessed on the custom domain), the switcher only shows the create option to the Owner or Co-owner.
I was invited to a workspace. Can I create my own?
Yes. Anyone with a Plutio login can create their own workspace, including clients and anyone whose role hides the switcher option.
The path that always works:
- Go to https://app.plutio.com/create-workspace.
- Sign in with the same email and password you use today.
- Set a workspace name and subdomain, then click Create.
You become the Owner of the new workspace. Your membership in the workspace that invited you stays exactly as it was, and both workspaces show up in your switcher.
Heads up: don't try to sign up again at plutio.com with the email you already use. You'll get an email already exists error. Always use the create-workspace link above instead.
